After he was done applying the lipstick, Emelie thanked him and then proceeded to put on the pearl earrings.

Emelie eventually picked up a knitted shawl and wrapped it around herself.
William came closer to assist, his hand gently guiding from her shoulder to her chin as if he might lean in for a kiss

Emelie lowered her gaze. “Mr. Middleton, you know things are different now.”
He wouldn’t have handed her over to another man before, either.
