Marie wasn’t lucky as a nurse came to inform her that the VIP ward she had not been paid for and she
was required to pay if she wanted to continue living there. If she didn’t, to paid the medical fees before leaving after getting discharged.
She was furious beyond words and felt that the world was against her. At the same time, she wished that she could kill Amanda but knew that any silly mistake now that she has no backer would be the same as inviting trouble.
Gritting her teeth, she said, “Okay. I will be leaving soon.”
She hated everyone and blamed her mother for not being able to keep an eye on her father cause to her, if she did, the company wouldn’t have fallen into her half–sister’s hands. Also, she wondered what had happened as she had previously planned with her parents how to get rid of the woman.
Thinking of all this, Marie decided to go straight home so that she could know everything in detail before planning her next move as she wasn’t one to give up so easily. To her, whatever had happened was just a trial and not something serious.
She hated hailing taxis but now, she didn’t have any other choice as she didn’t drive her car to the hospital and it wasn’t like the past when Damien would send someone to go and pick her up. As for her father, the mere thought of him made her sigh as she knew that she had already lost his favor.
“Mom,” she called out immediately after she arrived home.
“Dear?” her mother asked as she got out of the kitchen.
Since the company was no longer under their name and they didn’t have a lot of money, she had to release some of her workers. Due to not having sufficient house help, Mrs. Lopez had to do some things on her own. Luckily, she was from the countryside before marrying the rich thus she could do a lot of work.

“How may I help you?” Mrs Lopez asked in a polite tone.
“We are looking for Miss Marie Lopez,” a man in a blue uniform said.
“Why are you looking for her? Mrs Lopez asked with a frown on her face.
Although she knew what kind of a woman her daughter was, she just couldn’t believe that it had
reached, the point where the policemen even knocked at their door.
“I am sorry ma’am but can you first tell me whether she is present?” the man said coldly as he was
displeased with how Mrs Lopez was behaving.
She had dealt with many wealthy families thus he knew that if he made a mistake and saw why they were looking for Marie, the possibility for Mrs Lopez to say that her daughter wasn’t present was high and
he couldn’t make such a mistake.
“Miss, you don’t have to be afraid, we just want her to accompany us for some questioning as she is a
witness as she had witnessed something.” a young policewoman said with a fake smile on her face which
seemed genuine.
Hearing the policewoman’s words, Mrs Lopez let out a sigh of relief as she knew that her daughter hac always been a good girl.
“Yes, she is currently here thus you can come in,” Mrs Lopez said with a smile on her face making the policeman stunned as he had not thought of that.
He looked at his colleague as he wondered when the latter started lying.
They walked in and met Marie seated on a couch drinking tea and eating some snacks as she watched the TV.

If you want to see anything, you will say it at the police station, and at the same time, you will be able to call your lawyer to defend you,” the policewoman said.
Mrs Lopez was shocked as she just found out that she had been lied to and regretted welcoming her to
her home.
