Marie took her phone and called her father but the phone wasn’t picked up.
After calling more than five times without it being picked up, she started getting mad and feeling
ashamed as Damien was with him.
“Maybe Uncle is busy,” Damien said with a reassuring smile on his face.
As expected, when Marie heard that, she shook her head and became angrier and was more determined to get the company that was in her father’s hands without caring where her father would go or how he
would live after that.
“Let me call Mom instead,” She said before dialing her mother’s number which was picked up after a
few rings.
“Mom,” she called out.
“My dear, how are you?” Mrs Lopez asked.
“I am a fine mom. Mom, I am trying to contact Dad but I can’t get to him, can you please help me?” she said in a low pitiful tone that softened her mother’s heart.
“Dear, your father hasn’t come back yet since yesterday. The company has been in turmoil after the news of what you and your father did was released. Also, I had that the Andersons oppressed the company and we don’t know why. Did you do something to Miss Anderson once more?” her mother asked i a suspecting tone which made Marie bite her lips as she tried her best to prevent herself from
getting angry.
“How can you think like that about me? I am your child’s mom,” Marie said as she faked tears and cried making Damien who was with her roll his eyes secretly, and at the same time, he wondered how much of a fool he was in the past not to see through her.
“I am sorry dear. I was just asking. Please don’t get angry at Mom,” Mrs. Lopes said in a panicked
tone.

“How can you think like that about me? I am your child’s mom,” Marie said as she faked tears and cried making Damien who was with her roll his eyes secretly, and at the same time, he wondered how
much of a fool he was in the past not to see through her.
“I am sorry dear. I was just asking. Please don’t get angry at Mom,” Mrs. Lopes said in a panicked
tone.
“It is okay Mom. Mom, can you please call Dad and tell him that Damien wants to transfer some
projects to our company? Ask him to transfer his shares to me so that Damien can do that. That is
what he is asking for. If he doubts me, tell him that he can come to the hospital as soon as possible.

“Okay,” Mrs Lopez said before hanging up the call as she was so happy.
She had been waiting for the day that the company would belong to her daughter and not her husband’s
other daughter. She wanted her daughter to live a rich life and be admired by a lot of people.
She hurriedly called her husband to tell him the good news that, Damien transferring some of the
projects to the company meant that her husband would rest.
After some minutes, she called Marie back.
“Mom, have you talked to him?” Marie asked immediately as she was so impatient.
“Dear. Your father is having a woman outside. I have been defeated even after doing everything I have done,” Mrs Lopez said as she cried shocking/Marie in the process.
“Do you want to say that his woman from outside has a son?” Marie asked as that was the only thing that would threaten her position in the family.
“Before I got to know more, your father started shouting at me saying that it was your fault that he lost his company. Marie, what’s going on?” Mrs Lopez asked as she knew that there must be somethin
wrong.
After all, although she had always known that her husband might not necessarily be loyal to her, het had always hidden what he did outside very well as he had high expectations of Marie. Now, that he said.
The thought of it just made her sigh.

“I haven’t done anything wrong! What does he mean when he says that he has lost the company?” sh asked as she had a bad feeling in her heart.
Damien also started getting anxious as he was afraid that things might not go his way.
“The company is in your half–sister’s hands. He gave her the company. He said that the girl had
gotten herself a strong backer who forced him to hand the company to her. I have failed. I have been
defeated by a mistress and at the same time that woman!” Mrs Lopez said in a high tone as she cried.
Marie hung up the call as she was afraid that her mother might end up saying something that Damien
would hear and leave her.
Her face was pale as she wondered why did things go astray. She had always thought that her sister
didn’t want the company but now thinking about it, she knew that she had been well played. She wanted
to tear the latter but unfortunately, she couldn’t and her mother’s words still echoed in her head.
‘She got herself a strong backer. A backer that seems to be stronger, most feared, and financially
stable than Damien.

For the first time, she looked at Damien with hatred as she blamed him for what had happened. Blamed him for not being influential enough to get her what she had always wanted.
Damien saw the hatred in her eyes as she looked at him and sighed.
“Since you blame me for that even after having a good intention of giving you everything that I currently have in my hands, I bet the best way is for us to part ways, call off the wedding, and
forget that I was ever your fiancée. You have disappointed me over and over again,” Damien said
coldly before leaving without waiting for her answer.
Marie was left stunned.
She had not expected that the latter had seen the hatred in her eyes. Now she lost the company she
had always aimed for and at the same time, lost Damien’s assets that she had been coveting.
Thinking of all this, she screamed as she started laughing like a lunatic.
Damien walked out of the hospital in a low spirit as he knew that he had lost the company. He didn’t
know what else to do but what he knew was that even if he deposited all his money in the company, he
might end up losing everything.
What he could only hope for was that the Andersons were too busy at the moment not to pay attenti to him so that he could change his company’s situations but he was bound to fail when both Gregory
and Antonio kept an eye on him and his family.
