The Charming Ex-Wife by Gwendolyn Chapter 478

Chapter 478 Not Completely Indifferent.

He leaned in once more, planting a fierce kiss on the side of Lysander’s neck.

She struggled as if she had been burned, attempting to kick him away with her leg. However, her strength was insufficient, and instead, allowed him the chance to lift half of the blanket off her.

He used his own body to replace the blanket, covering her.

“Guerra Group just received the final payment for a project. It isn’t much, around fifty to sixty million. I don’t plan on investing in any new projects in the near future, so this money can be allocated flexibly,” he

“Why are you telling me this?”

“Investment companies in Harborbrook probably won’t be investing in Daphne’s family business anytime soon as they nearly defaulted on their bank loans. From an investment company’s perspective, that’s a major red flag.”

Josiah looked down at Lysander, his eyes aflame with an unspoken passion. Even his breath carried a scorching heat.

Only a bedside lamp was lit in the entire room, casting orange light on them and subtly enhancing an air of ambiguity between them.

Lysander’s struggling ceased, disbelief lacing her voice as she asked, “So, this is the condition for help:

With a self–deprecating laugh, Josiah said, “It’s not a condition; it’s my sincerity.”

After a considerable pause, Lysander finally asked, “Can I accept just half of your sincerity?”

She wanted the money, but not the person.

Upon understanding what she meant, Josiah raised an eyebrow at her.

Lysander quickly said, “You just mentioned earlier that I could come to you if I’m short on money.”

“All right,” said Josiah. “But my sincerity goes beyond this. You can refuse me as a person for now, but you have to accept everything else.”

Lysander asked skeptically, “What else is there?”

“My heart.”

When Lysander didn’t respond, Josiah added, “Money and my body, or money and my heart, choose one.”

“First, send the money to Daphne. As for your heart… wait until I return this time. I’ll have Lynn get me at surgical scalpel.”

“Don’t play dumb; you know exactly what I’m talking about.”

His gaze was as scorching and sharp as a blade, so much so that she averted her eyes.

“All right.”

“That’s why, your heart-”

“I love you.”

Lysander was taken aback.

“I’m not lying to you either.”

In that fleeting moment, the white bathrobe and the belt fell to the ground together. In the midst of the chaos, the bedside lamp was turned off by a slender, strong hand. The entire room instantly plunged into boundless darkness.

When sight was no longer an option, the sense of touch became remarkably heightened. The heavy pressure on Lysander lifted, only to return in a matter of two or three seconds. What was once the feel of a shirt’s fabric had now turned into burning–hot skin.

The man’s presence instantly enveloped her completely.

It was overwhelming, not giving her a single chance to catch her breath.

She had no idea how Josiah managed to find her lips so accurately in the darkness, let alone perceive her feeble resistance. Somehow, he had managed to grasp her hand in advance, pressing it against his own chest, all while seemingly blind to his surroundings.

At first, it was just a gentle, fleeting taste, but later it turned into a strong, relentless pursuit.

“Josiah!” She managed to break free from his burning kiss, then, like a trapped animal fighting for its last shred of freedom in the cage he provided, she said, “Are you going to force me?”

Josiah’s actions paused momentarily.

Then, he let out a heavy sigh. “You don’t love me.”

“That’s right. I don’t love you.”

“Let’s not speak so definitively just yet.”

With that single sentence, her punishment for the night was declared.

Josiah did not immediately dive into the main event. Instead, he was exceedingly tender and affectionate.

On several occasions, Lysander was driven to the brink of madness by his hands and lips. Yet, he remained unhurried and calm, as if he was carrying out a serious task while observing her reactions.

However, Lysander had to concede that Josiah was indeed the kind of man who was quite attentive in bed.

Despite saying it was forced, it was actually more like him forcing her to accept his services.

address the main issue.

As he continued his advance, he gently brushed her trembling eyelashes with his fingers, catching the teardrops that lingered at the corners of her eyes, before rubbing them away with the tips of his fingers.

His voice was hoarse in the darkness. “Actually, you’re not completely indifferent to me in certain situations, are you?”

“No!”

Lysander refused to admit it, turning her face away.

In the next moment, he had seized her chin, forcibly turning her toward him before he firmly covered her mouth with his.

“You don’t love me? Then I’ll continue until you do.”

It had been a long time since Lysander had done something like this. At first, she couldn’t adapt at all. Josiah endured, breaking out in a sweat. The beads of perspiration dripped onto her chest, scattering in different directions.

At the end of the day, they were a long–married couple. Josiah quickly regained his past memories, skillfully breaking through her tough exterior.

Once he had breached her defenses, he went wild and let loose.

Lysander found it impossible to resist the onslaught of thoughts in her mind. Her thoughts were a chaotic mess, akin to a whirlpool of confusion. One moment she felt cold, the next hot, the sensations fluctuating unpredictably. At times, everything seemed crystal clear, only to be swallowed by boundless chaos the next. She felt like a drowning woman clinging to a single piece of driftwood, unable to die but also unable to reach the shore, left to the mercy of the ebb and flow of her own thoughts.

Her alarm was set for six in the morning.

When the standard ringtone of her phone alarm sounded, Lysander had a moment of lucidity.

Was it dawn already?

In an effort to have a sound sleep the night before, she had drawn the curtains tight so not a shred of light. could penetrate, making it impossible to discern the current time.

“What time did you set your alarm for?”

Josiah’s voice echoed in her ears.

It didn’t sound like it was coming from beside her.

Instead, it was directly above.

Beneath her waist was a soft pillow cushioning her, and Lysander couldn’t even recall when he had slipped

it there.

Thankfully, the pillow served as a cushion to absorb the force. Otherwise, with how long they had done it….

“Hmm?”

Upon not receiving her response, he shifted his lower body.

Lysander winced and gasped in pain. “Josiah, did you take some drugs yesterday?”

Josiah chuckled. “I had a few.”

Lysander was shocked. “What!”

It had been meant as a joke, so she didn’t expect to have actually guessed right.

“Gastric medicine.” he replied teasingly. “I had a gastroscopy last night, and the doctor prescribed a week’s worth of medicine for me to take on time.”

Lysander, infuriated, hit him hard. “You’re seriously messed up.”

Josiah held her clenched fists behind his neck, intertwining their hands. “I’ve heard that with a cold, if you pass it on to someone else, you’ll get better. Is that true?” he asked.

Lysander attempted to withdraw her hands, but he turned his head and planted another kiss on the softest part of her inner elbow,

She scoffed at him. “You’re stuck in outdated superstitious beliefs.”

“If it’s true, then go ahead and infect me with your flu,” he said.

“I just said it was superstition.”

Josiah chuckled lightly, reaching out to touch her forehead, “Your fever has gone down. Can you breathe through your nose now?”

Lysander didn’t know what to say.

Her nose was indeed no longer as blocked.

Her throat was somewhat dry, but it wasn’t like yesterday when the pain was so intense it felt as though a blade was slicing through it.

“I want to drink water.”

Josiah reminded her of their position through his actions once more. “Now?”
