The Charming Ex-Wife by Gwendolyn Chapter 350

Chapter 350 His Only Exception

“I’ve told you, I don’t know anything. I just keep thinking about Harry, who has disappeared without a trace, and that incident from the past. Harper, try to avoid provoking Josiah in the future. Despite his youth, he’s an enigma, even to me. And Lysander, I can see that you’re a steady and reliable person. It might not be such a bad thing that you’ve divorced Josiah. Focus on living your own life from now on and try to minimize your involvement with him.”

Daphne was still somewhat disgruntled. “Dad, you’re making Josiah sound like some big bad wolf. You haven’t seen it, but he’s been a total doormat to that particular woman for over twenty years. It’s so utterly pitiful.”

“Everyone has many facets to them. Perhaps, that woman holds a special significance for him. But who can guarantee they’ll be someone’s only exception?”

This statement left Daphne utterly speechless.

Rufus’ tone was laced with a hint of worry as he went on to advise sincerely, “Lysander, it was Harry who took you away from the Everhart residence, which makes us involved in this matter. I’m truly afraid…”

“Dad, are you worried that Josiah might take his anger out on us? No way! I’m Lysander’s best friend. How could he possibly…”

“That esteemed director is the trusted assistant of Old Mrs. Guerra as she watched him grow up since he was a child. What do you think?”

Daphne fell silent.

Rufus said, “Lysander, I’m not telling you this to scare you. Josiah is very concerned about you right now. I hope you can persuade him to hand Harry over to the police if he’s still alive. The Everhart family will fully cooperate. As for the housekeeper who tricked you into leaving, I’ve already made her turn herself in to the police. Perhaps this is the best way to handle things.”

After hanging up the phone, Lysander was lost in thought for quite some time.

When Adrian came to knock on the door, she was still somewhat dazed.

The man Rufus spoke of and the ex-husband she had spent three years with seemed like two entirely different people.

Yet, she truly felt a chill down her spine at that moment.

Adrian called from outside, “Are you done with your call? The scrambled eggs are ready, so come and have some.”

Lysander opened the door.

Upon seeing her face, Adrian was taken aback. “Why do you look a bit off?”

I veander shook her head let out a soft chuckle and headed straight to the dining room

Adrian had already prepared two plates of scrambled eggs, with a salad bowl in the middle, filled with a well-mixed vegetable salad.

“The fridge only has salad dressing. I’m planning to stop by the Ecronian supermarket today to pick up some Ecronian cuisine condiments. You’ll have to make do with what we have for this meal. Besides, your throat hasn’t fully recovered yet, so you can’t eat anything too flavorful for now.”

With a smile, Lysander gave a slight nod to express her gratitude.

The scrambled eggs were the perfect consistency, soft and fluffy.

“After we finish eating. I’m going to head out for some shopping. Would you like to come along? Maybe

I can show you around so you can get familiar with the surroundings?”

Lysander shook her head, then lightly tapped her forehead, silently posing a question.

Adrian assured, “Don’t worry, the fever has already subsided. The wound on my arm is also healing well. I changed the dressing myself this morning.”

Lysander nodded.

“The rain last night was really heavy, but then again, it’s typical for Stounia to have frequent rains. Remember to always carry an umbrella with you when you go out.”

She mechanically nodded while taking a bite of her scrambled eggs.

The words Rufus had spoken earlier were still swirling in her mind.

Adrian could tell that she seemed distracted and asked, “Is there something going on at home?”
