Chapter 13
Frank’s large and powerful palm closed around the woman’s hand. With a tug, he pulled the woman from her sitting position on the floor.
Maria’s legs were still somewhat numb as she was pulled up. Due to inertia, her body fell forward.
She lost her balance, falling onto the man’s sturdy chest. The clean and pleasant scent of the man filled her nostrils.
The strands of hair on Maria’s head brushed against Frank’s clean–shaven jaw, and the faint and sweet fragrance mixed with a woman’s natural scent filled his lungs.
The dark gleam in Frank’s ink–black eyes shone brighter. He pushed the woman away from his embrace, pinning her with a sharp gaze as he spoke coldly, “Maria, don’t push it!”
Maria’s back hit the countertop, causing a flash of pain. Tears welled up in her clear eyes.
She didn’t intend to fall into his arms. Her legs were genuinely numb.
Seeing that the man was angry again, Maria knew that no matter what she said, Frank might not believe her. “I didn’t.”
She looked like a little pet who had been wrongly accused, waiting for comfort from her owner.
Frank raised an eyebrow coldly. He took a step forward until they were about a foot apart. He lowered his icy black eyes and stared into her teary eyes.
He curved his thin lips and spoke sarcastically, “No? Maria, I’ve told you not to play tricks with me. Do you think that by pretending to be innocent, I’ll believe you didn’t do anything?”
Maria’s breath hitched. His proximity made her tense up.
Especially the man’s breath. She could almost feel it on her face. It caused her heart to beat inexplicably faster. Her fair face, which was pale from illness, turned red as though she had put on a blush.
Frank watched her delicate face visibly flush until her face was red.
An inexplicable surge of desire gathered in his cold black eyes.
“Damn it, I am reacting to this woman again! She must have applied something on herself to seduce me!‘ he thought furiously.
“What did you apply to your body?” Frank continued to lean toward Maria, his body almost invading her personal space. His gaze became even darker.
The sweet fragrance, the soft body of the woman, her blushing face, the innocent deer–like eyes, and her slightly parted cherry lips that begged for a taste… All of those aroused him.
Frank was sure that Maria had applied something to make him feel such lust!
Maria’s elbow on the countertop supported her. Her back was pressed against it. Her heart pounded wildly as though it was about to leap out of her throat.
She raised her palm, attempting to keep the distance between them. However, her fingers accidentally brushed the man’s sturdy chest, and she quickly retracted it as though she had touched something electrifying.
The man’s direct and intense stare made Maria feel embarrassed. She looked away nervously. She murmured, “Frank, I’m still sick…”
“Maria, what are you thinking? Do you believe that I want you now?” The man’s mocking laughter echoed in the air. He moved away, his large and muscular body leaving her personal space.
The relief she felt made her let out a breath. The man continued to taunt, “You don’t think I want to have sex with you right now, do you?”
Such blunt words caused Maria’s cheeks to burn again. Annoyed, she glared at Frank and bit her lower lip. “Since it’s not the case, stay away from me.”
Frank stared at her coldly. He reached out with a hand to pull her, who was still leaning against the countertop, into his arms. He wrapped an arm around her waist and said. “Maria, are you giving me an order?”
