Bonnie was frozen to where she stood and gawked at him.
Her reaction was enough to damage his confidence. ‘I unbuttoned my shirt, but I didn’t remove it. It should’ve been massively sexy to ladies. So, why does she still look this disinterested?
‘Should I have been sexier?’
At the thought of that, he moved to unfasten his belt.
“If you take it off, I’ll ask Keenan to kick you out of the room.”
“He’s dead asleep. He won’t be able to come here.” He smiled and responded.
Then, she looked out the window.
‘I knew it. It’s opened. He climbed into my room through the window. That would’ve made some sort of sound. I was bathing, and even I could hear it through the shower.
‘Keenan was the kind of guy who survived several life-or-death situations. I hesitate to think he wouldn’t have noticed something was amiss.’
“What did you do to Keenan?”
“Nothing. I just put some incense in his room to help with sleep.”
She didn’t respond to him.
“Come on. Get over here.” He wagged his finger at her again.
A cunning humor flashed in her eyes as she said, “Sure.” With that, she walked toward him.
She was wrapped in nothing but the towel. The sight of it was enough to drive him crazy. Every cell in his body was screaming maddeningly, egging him on to do unspeakable things to her. “Close your eyes.” She grinned from ear to ear.
His eyes sparkled at that. “Are you trying to kiss me? Is it because you’ll feel embarrassed if I look at you?”
“Of course. I’m still just a girl at the end of the day. Hurry up and close your eyes. I just might regret it if you drag this out.”
At the next moment, he did as he was told.
She stuck out a finger and hit his vital point on the nape of his neck.
Then, he fell to the bed and went limp.
“This might help you sleep, too.” She whispered in his ear.
She looked at the unconscious Ivor and pondered. Then, she lay a blanket on the ground and hurled him onto it.
The following day, she opened her eyes and saw his resentful gaze. “You’re mean. I can’t believe you let me sleep on the floor alone.”
“Haven’t I put a blanket on the floor first? Also, you’re the one who pulled some sketchy stunt first. You’re the head of the Knight family, and yet you climbed the window and snuck into my room. Aren’t you concerned that your family will mock and tease you if they discover this?
“What’s there to be concerned about? Grandma used to always chase Grandpa out of the room when they were young. He’d even punish himself to get into her bedroom.
“More to the point, he was the head
of the family too. Not only was he not embarrassed, but he boasted about it during the family dinner party. He said he bows downto no one except his wife. S
“He even said that men must obey their wives if they want what’s best for the family. We were supposed to learn from him.”
‘Once again, he showed me how his thick skin is written in the Knights’ genes and passed down to the next generation. I could use everything in my arsenal, and he still wouldn’t have budged. I should zip it if don’t want to be frustrated.’
She was supposed to go to college today, but she didn’t. Instead, she went to her research institute.
‘Perhaps being the university president isn’t half bad. I don’t have to apply for an off day if I want to skip classes. I can just do it whenever I feel like it.’
She was burying herself in her research when Toby approached her, wearing a peculiar expression.
“What’s the matter? Is something bothering you?” She asked. At the next moment, his expression grew even stranger. He looked like he was about to spill it, but he bit his tongue instead. “What in the world is wrong? Just tell me about it. It’s just us here.”
Toby wrestled with himself a little before finally telling her about it. “Try not to be alone when you go out later, Ms. Bonita. Someone might ambush you.”
