Chapter 328
Avril was so excited to talk about Bonita that she could not help but ask rapid–fire questions. At that moment, Bonnie replied without a second thought, “I am Bonita.”
Avril’s eyes widened.
“I mean it,” Bonnie enunciated her words to show she was serious. However, Avril only stared at her. A minute later, the former rubbed her eyes and asked, “Does that mean you still don’t believe me?”
“I do. I believe you’re messing with me.”
Bonnie was puzzled as Avril added, “You messed with me last time, remember? You said you were the miracle doctor, and I said that if you were the miracle doctor, then I was the popular Ms. Bonita.”
‘Ugh, I’m not in the mood to explain anything. It’s best if she doesn’t believe me anyway.‘
“I’m running late. I should go now,” Bonnie said as she hailed a cab.
“Be safe!” Avril waved, and her car arrived to pick her up soon after.
When she got home, her parents huddled around her and asked, “Where’s Bonnie? I
thought she’d be with you. Did you forget to invite her to dinner?”
“I invited her, but she said she was busy tonight and will take a rain check.” Avril smiled
and piqued their curiosity by asking, “Why don’t you guess what she’s busy with tonight?”
“Jeez, Avril, just tell us what it is and stop beating around the bush, will ya?” Mairi tapped her daughter’s forehead.
“Hey, come on. Just take a guess.”
“Hmm, is she on a date with Ivor?”
“Wrong! Okay, I’ll just tell you the answer.” Truthfully, Avril could not wait to tell her parents the answer. “Bonnie’s busy working at Bonita Research Institute!”
“What?!” Daken and Mairi gasped. “Are you pulling our legs?”
“I thought she was joking when she told me, too, but she looked serious. It has to be the
truth.”
Daken and Mairi exchanged glances as their minds raced, especially Daken’s. After some
thought, he asked, “Did Bonnie tell you anything else?”
“Oh, you bet she did. She has an excellent sense of humor because she told me she’s Ms. Bonita!” The idea of that still sounded funny to Avril.
‘Holy shit!”
Daken froze at the mindblowing news. He even felt a chill down his spine as he said, “That explains a lot! No wonder Xavier of Sheffyn Entertainment tried to gain her favor by purchasing that billion–dollar ginseng for her at the auction.
“Also, the Knight Group automatically secured the rights for the latest nanomaterial. If you think about it, even our bitter rivals, the Dyngards, had to leave Pyralis. Don’t forget that Jim Ryan always shows up whenever Bonnie’s around.”
Initially, Avril thought Bonnie was just joking. Now that her father pointed these things out, her jaw dropped. “D–Dad, do you mean… B–Bonnie’s really Ms. Bonita?!”
“What do you think?” Daken asked back, still shocked after hearing his daughter’s earlier explanation. He continued, “Do you remember how we reacted when she said she was the
miracle doctor?
“Although we didn’t believe her, she convinced us by demonstrating her incredible knowledge in the medical field.
“Don’t forget about what happened last weekend. We took Bonnie to Jocrovania for the Antique Jade Appreciation Conference. We thought Bonnie had some knowledge of the
circle, but she even outsmarted Mr. Jesper.
“Also, the Bonnie I know doesn’t like boasting and prefers to keep a low profile, even though she’s outstanding in many aspects. Isn’t Ms. Bonita the same?”
