How I Remarry My Ex-Wife Chapter 50

Chapter 50

Quincey couldn’t accept it. “Why is Whitney so lucky? How is it that things will always go smoothly for her and that she’s always the center of attention?” she wondered.

“Mr. Gibson, I’m counting on that. I’ll be sure to cherish her well. Jonah held Whitney’s hand tightly and looked at her affectionately.

All along, Whitney knew about Jonah’s feelings for her. She had, however, made it very clear that they were just friends and could only be

friends. She didn’t want to lose a friend.

Besides, she had no plans to be in a relationship again after her divorce. She reckoned there wouldn’t be an end and wouldn’t get hurt if she never started a new relationship.

However, Whitney chose not to reject him directly in front of everyone. All she did was pull a smile on her face and hold his hands, acting as if they were really in a relationship.

Since many others were still waiting in line to offer their birthday congratulations to Patrick, Whitney stepped aside after she was done.

“Winnie, stay and chat with me after the party,” Patrick suddenly called out to Whitney. Knowing what he wanted to say, she smilingly nodded and stepped away.

Because of Whitney’s appearance, Patrick seemed to become much more anxious. In no time, the party came to an end.

“Winnie, when did you learn oil painting?” Jonah gave Whitney a thumbs–up.

He looked around and continued in a low volice, “You probably didn’t realize, but Mr. Gibson didn’t pay attention to other people’s gifts after receiving yours.”

“That’s not true. I just did it casually. I’m glad that Mr. Gibson likes it,” responded Whitney.

While they were chatting, Jerry appeared in front of them.

“Ms. Collins, Mr. Gibson asks you to go to the study. He has something to say to you.” Jerry respectfully crossed his arms before his chest as

he spoke.

“Winnie, I’ll go with you. That old man has a weird temper,” Jonah wrapped his arm around Whitney’s shoulder, ready to accompany

the study.

“Mr. Gardner, Mr. Gibson has said he only wants Ms. Collins over.” Jerry stopped Jonah in time.

Jonah still wanted to say something, but Whitney stopped him. “It’s okay, I find Mr. Gibson quite amlable. I’ll find you later after I’m done.”

With that, led by Jerry, Whitney headed toward the study.

“I won’t go in. I’ll just wait for you at the door!” Jonah was still worried and followed behind.

In the study, Patrick sat at his desk. When he saw Whitney walk in, he immediately got up as if she was a distinguished guest.

“Winnie, you’re here. Have a seat,” he said.

Whitney felt a little strange to be treated so politely by an elder, but she still sat opposite Patrick warmly.

“Mr. Gibson, you don’t have to be so polite,” replied Whitney.

“Are you… asked Patrick.

After a nice chat with Patrick, Whitney walked out of the study. She was still thinking of discussing something with Jonah but didn’t see im

around.

She presumed that Jonah must have gone to the hall, so she decided to go and look for him.

However, she did not see him even after looking around. She wondered where he had gone.

Right then, a voice reached Whitney’s ears. Though it wasn’t loud, she could recognize who was speaking. She strode in the direction where the voice sounded from.

“Have you really got together with her?” Thiago coldly questioned.

“That has nothing to do with you, isn’t it?” A second voice rang out

It was Jonah’s.

Whitney frowned, wondering why Jonah was with Thiago and what they were talking about.

“It has nothing to do with me. I’m her ex–husband, and I’ve been through it. I just wanted to remind you,” uttered Thiago.

He paused for a moment. “I’ve lived with her for so many y

years. I know her very well.”

“Humph! Tell me how much you know about her, and I’ll see whether you know more or do,” voiced Jonah.

Whitney couldn’t see their expressions, but based on her understanding, she knew that Thiago’s face must be as gloomy as the sky before a

rainstorm.

“Have you lived with her? If not, what right do you good woman,” argued Thiago.

Whitney paused in her footsteps.

have to say that you know her? I advise you not to be with a woman like her. She’s not a

‘Thiago’s a scumbag, but how can he say something like that? We’re divorced. Even if we didn’t leave a good impression on each other, there’s still no need for him to act like this, no? He was the only one I liked from the beginning, I even hid my identity and made compromises to marry him and not put him under pressure. Amla hypocrite? The two–faced one is him she reflected.

A chill settled in Whitney’s heart. It was the first time she felt so heartbroken since the divorce.

“He’s really despicable, she mused.

“As far as I know, she has many male companions. Also, do you have any idea what her family background is like? Be careful, or you might end up with nothing.” Thiago was sarcastic.

Whitney, standing not far away, couldn’t bear to listen anymore. “Men are equally nosy as women, huh?‘ she thought.

She was

as about to charge forward when Jonah’s voice sounded again. “Mr. Mackenzie, first, you and Winnie have divorced. You’ve no right to interfere in her life, neither do you have anything to do with her. Secondly, you said you’ve lived with Winnie for many years, but why do I feel like you don’t know her at all? The one you love is someone else. Tell me, did you ever try to understand her? Do you know what she likes to eat, what color she likes, and what she likes to do? Lastly, don’t you think it’s very childish for a grown man like you to gossip about a woman here? Don’t you feel shameless at all?”

“Anyway, she’s my woman, and I like her no matter what kind of a person she is. It’s not your place to act like a good person here. All you have to do is take care of your fiancée and don’t concern yourself about something that’s none of your business!” he added.

Thiago’s words had left Whitney furious, but she instantly felt better after hearing Jonah’s retort.

She strode toward Jonah.

As she passed by Thiago, she purposefully cast him a glare.

It was apparent that neither Thiago nor Jonah expected Whitney to show up, and a look of surprise flitted across their faces.

“Winnie, you…” Jonah looked at Whitney worriedly.

She expressionlessly stared at Thiago. “Mr. Mackenzie, isn’t it despicable of you to talk ill of others behind their backs?”

Thiago was much taller than Whitney, but at that moment, her aura was so immense it overshadowed him.

Thiago parted his lips but did not speak.

“Why? You know you’re in the wrong and have nothing to say, huh? Frankly speaking, I’m so glad that I divorced you. As you said, we were together for a long time, and I’ve realized what kind of a person you are, but I didn’t expect you to be a man without a bottom line of morality,” expressed Whitney.

As soon as those words fell, Thiago’s expression darkened drastically. There was no trace of emotion in his deep eyes.
