How I Remarry My Ex-Wife Chapter 42

Chapter 42

Thiago headed back to his office after the quick meeting. He kicked back in his chair, loosened his tie, and took a deep breath. His mind

wandered b

to Whitney. Without her meddling, Mackenzie Group wouldn’t be in such a tight spot. Thinking about it, he gritted his teeth, his hands balling into fists without him even noticing.

Meanwhile, Whitney had pulled an all–nighter on the plan and finally nailed it the next day. She could’ve handed it off, but since her company was still new, she wanted to handle things herself to be sure it was perfect. And snagging a big deal like this was a golden chance for her company to shine.

If she knocked it out of the park with Indigox, her company’s future looked bright. But if she dropped the ball, it might mean game over i

business.

Early morning, Whitney hit the office and handed her latest masterpiece to Ruby. She told her assistant to get Ruby all set up. Ruby Garcia was the star designer at the company. She might not have been the top like Lester, but she was still one of the best in the country. Whitney had scored her for the team by sheer luck.

They had been working together for so long, and Whitney trusted Ruby. Handing over this job felt like the right call.

On the other side of the studio, Ruby and Julius Schmidt, the fresh graduate, took the design drawing with excitement. It was their icon’s

work, after all,

The moment they laid eyes on it, they were in awe. Ruby’s heart went thump. She knew the design, but it was the tiny tweaks that made it pop like a last–minute dab of paint on a masterpiece. The design was seriously next level.

Back in her office, Whitney was swamped, but she dug that vibe. Staying on her toes kept her mind off bad memories. She took a swig of coffee and leaned back, soaking up a quick chill moment.

Then her phone buzzed. Whitney sat up, checked the caller, and picked up right away. It was Indigox on the line. They told Whitney they picked a project manager and were ready to talk the next afternoon.

But the caller didn’t give Whitney the manager’s name or number–just the time and the place to meet. Whitney wasn’t fazed; she’d find out who it was soon enough.

The next day, Whitney dressed sharply, pulled her hair back, touched up her makeup, and headed out full of energy. She got to the meeting spot early to double–check the design plan, making sure everything was perfect.

With ten minutes to spare, she watched the door, but nobody showed up yet.

She wasn’t in a hurry. She’d stay cool even if they were running late.

Soon a tall guy walked in. Whitney stood and flashed a sweet smile.

The person walked to Whitney and stretched out a big hand with slender, beautiful fingers.

“Hello, Whitney, I’m the project manager of Indigox. Nice to meet you again.” Whitney found the voice familiar. She looked at the person and found that it was Finnegan.

The last time she saw him, he was dressed in casual clothes and had his hair styled casually. However, this time, he was dressed in a black sult, which made his figure appear more slender and upright. His hair had been carefully styled, which was completely different from his previous look.

“It’s you! I’m glad to cooperate with your Whitney said. She was a little surprised. After all, he was Hayden’s friend. She knew from the last time they met that Finnegan wasn’t an ordinary person. But she didn’t expect him to be the person in charge of this project.

“You’re not bummed to see me, right?” Finnegan joked, eyeing her with a playful smirk. Looking at the capable and beautiful woman before him, he felt an inexplicable feeling growing in his heart.

With a raised eyebrow and a steady smile, Whitney responded, “What could be better than doing business together?” She shook his hand firmly.

Finnegan, half–joking, sighed, “Guess the project’s more interesting than I am.”

Seeing Finnegan sit down, Whitney sat across from him and handed over the design. “Mr. Hall, here’s what we’ve got. Please, take a look,” she said, keeping it professional.

Finnegan accepted the plans but didn’t glance at them. “Come on, Whitney, we’re past formalities,” he said.

Whitney stayed cool. “I’m only showing respect for your company and how serious we are about working together.”

Seeing she wasn’t gonna chat casually, Finnegan gave in and started reviewing the design. As he studied the plans, Whitney watched his reactions closely. No matter how good the design was, you never know what might please or tick off a client. She didn’t know whether Finnegan would be satisfied with the design plan.

Finnegan looked at the drawing carefully, which was different from the glib look just now.

It was the first time that Whitney had looked at Finnegan so seriously. His narrow eyes were somewhat charming, and his nose seemed to be specially sculpted. His skin was perfectly tanned, while his fingers were slender and beautiful.

Suddenly, Finnegan looked up. “Why are you staring? Noticed something interesting about me?”

Caught off guard, Whitney blushed a little. “Actually, I’m more curious about what you think of the design. So, do you like it?”

He gave a charming nod. “Of course, I can’t say no to this design,”

Whitney’s mind raced. ‘Is he saying that he only approves of it because of Hayden?”

Whitney frowned and was about to say something, but Finnegan seemed to see through her thoughts. He interrupted her, “I mean, it’s a solid design. It wouldn’t be fair to say otherwise.”
