His Wife (A Contract Marriage Story) by Heer Mangtani Chapter 93

Chapter 93

[MIA]

was in the centre of a world that every parent warned their chill to stay away from. When the tears dried out and my voice gave up from crying, begging and screaming from the room I was locked in but the door never opened, anger made its way

to me.

He is the mafia. He is dangerous, a murderer, and those veiny arms and long fingers with which he had held my head? They

were covered in blood.

And yet, he had misused his power to lock me in a gilded cage in his house. Albeit it was a huge room, about the size of my apartment with greys walls, a huge bed and a bathroom the size of my room- it was just that. A fancy cage.

The windows were at a height, probably the first floor, but there were guards stationed right below it that wouldn’t move. They hadn’t since the four hours I had been there.

My stomach rumbled, and even though I shivered partly from the cold and partly from fear, I refused to get into the bed or the comfort of the blanket.

I fell asleep-hugging my knees on the floor.

When my eyes opened again, there was no light seeping in from the windows. It was still

the middle of it

The door to my room was still locked from outside it secuned, and no one had interrupted my sleep or offered me food.

Or so I thought, until I saw a silhouette sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at me in the dim light.

“Oh my, God, I shrieked, clutching my chest

“For a girl so tiny, you can make a lot of noise. He commented, seeming grumpier than earlier.

“So you had heard me screaming earlier?” I asked, and the man from earlier stood up from the bed. He was still in clothes from the previous afternoon, only this time, the sleeve of his white shirt was blood tinged.

“Kind of hard not to when you wouldn’t stay y silent for a second.

I gulped, getting up to face him. “I- I have been silent for a while now.”

“Three hours,” he replied, standing at a safe six feet distance from me. I figured you died.”

My lips part.

“A- And you didn’t send anyone to check?” I asked in return. Obviously he wasn’t going to care if I had been dead, but the fact that he was so neutral and accustomed to it was terrifying.

“I did come to dispose off your body, didn’t I?” He sounded bored

I left a heavy breath. The more I spoke to him, the more convinced I was that he was psychotic enough to kill an innocent family just for fun and games, and not bat an eyelash

“Why, I breathed, focusing on it, “Why am I here?”

“You need a recap? Did you hurt your head?” He deadpanned, his arms crossed in front of his chest. “You stuck your nose where it doesn’t belong, cupcake, and now you’re getting punished.”

“No… I- I mean… why am I here?” I try sounding unfazed which was not. “What are you going to do with me?

Chapter 93

His otherwise dark eyes-twinkle in the dim, one corner of his lips turning up. “Whatever I please, cupcake, that is your punishment. Your life is mine,

“You- You can’t just do that.” My voice raises, thoughts of Jenny filling in my head. She would keep waiting for me, and I would never show up. She’s going to think I abandoned her, and I was all that she had left.

“Enlighten me,” he indulged, “Why can’t I?”

“Because- Because I have a life outside! I have people and- and I can’t just disappear.”

“Guess what?” He licks his lips as if thoroughly amused. “You just did disappear, like you never existed. And what life are you talking about? You’re a baker with no friends.”

“I-II gulped, cursing myself for not being able to form a proper sentence without stuttering. The man in front of me was intimidating, and that didn’t even begin to cover up what a psychotic devil he was. “How do you know that about me?”

“Did you really think I was going to keep you under my roof without thoroughly finding out about who you are?”

“I’m a normal person, I beg “I own a bakery, and I work hard and I have dreams and I had a plan, and you can’t.” my voice breaks into a whisper, you can’t take it away from me.”

“I didn’t take it away from you. You gave it away when you decided to mess with the Mafia. He nonchalantly replies.

“Please, I whisper, sounding as broken as I felt,

“Besides, it’s not like you have somebody out there who’s going to miss your vile life.”

His words sting even though I knew he was correct. Everyone who would’ve missed my vile life was dead except Jenny, but I couldn’t tell him that. I couldn’t tell him because if there was a chance he was involved in Alina’s death, it would take him an hour to wipe out the last living member of her family.

“I have someone who would miss me, I say.

“Who?” He c*ks an eyebrow.

“A-A boyfriend,” I blurt out before I could even think it through.

“I see.

“You see?”

He takes a step closer to me and I subconsciously move backwards even though my back was already at the wall. “Wh

name?”

1 gulp, pressing myself further into the wall when he takes steps towards me. If only the wall could open

n and eat me.

“I asked what’s his name, Mia?” He hissed, suddenly so close to me that he was hovering over me

No words leave me. How could I give him the name of a person who didn’t exist?

“I’m not going to repeat myself.”

“Why do you ask?” I barely whisper.

“So I can erase him from existence. There was promise in his voice, a determination that should’ve just scared me. instead, it sends a jolt to my body pulsating all the way to my code.

“I won’t tell you.”

“You won’t, huh?”

I shake my head timidly.

“Very well. Protect him then, He replies in an eerily creepy voice, his face moving closer to mine in a threatening way. “Bur let me make one thing very clear. You are not leaving from here, ever. You sold your life to me the moment you begged me

to kill you. You are mine to keep, Mia, and mine to kill.”
