Chapter 406 Visiting Susan
After Ines left, the house was momentarily engulfed in silence.
Gazing at the table full of food that had already gone cold, Laura let out a sigh. “I’ll go heat up the food.”
Maverick was about to reach for his cigarette again when Lysander grabbed his hand. “Dad, stop smoking
Maverick scoffed, “Guerni Group?“.
A sense of heaviness settled in Lysander’s heart, but she remained silent.
“I was just wondering, who would want to use that remote area in our residential compound? Turns out it was Josiah Lysa, Josiah wants to demolish the place, and he’s relocating us to a place not far from your hospital. Is this because of you?”
Lysander lowered her eyes. “I guess so.”
“Is he still bothering you?”
“He used to.”

Laura reheated the food once more, and everyone had a bit to cat.
However, by the end of the meal, not much of the food had been touched.
Laura took her daughter’s hand. “How about this? Let’s not worry about buying a house. The one we’re renting now is quite nice, and it wouldn’t be bad to continue renting. Plus, if we decide not to buy a house, we should receive some compensation, right? Even though it might not be a lot, you can take it for now. When you get married, it can be used to make a down payment with your future husband.”
Maverick remained silent, continually smoking his cigarette.
Laura gave Maverick a meaningful look. “Maverick, say something.”
Maverick sighed. “Your mom does have a point. If it really comes to it, we can just continue renting. It’s not the end of the world.”
At night, Lysander stayed at home.
The rented apartment only consisted of two bedrooms and a living room. Since Michelle was living on campus and not at home, she slept in Michelle’s room.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, Howard sent her a message: Lysa, did you have a fight with Josiah?

Lysander had just spoken harshly to Josial. It was clearly not the best time for her to show concern for his mother.
She got in touch with Eleanor instead.
The last time when Susan had a sudden bout of high blood pressure, she and Eleanor had exchanged phone numbers. This was so that if anything were to happen to Susan in the future, she could get in touch. with her quickly.
It came in handy at that moment.
Upon hearing of her impending visit, Eleanor was elated. “Oh, wonderful! Madam Susan would surely be thrilled to see you.”
“Eleanor. Josiah… will not be home tomorrow, right?”
Eleanor was taken aback. “Mrs. Guerra, aren’t you coming with Mr. Guerra?”

Lysander ended the phone call.
Although Eleanor didn’t provide a precise response, she had gleaned some information.
At that very moment, Josiah was not at home.

The following morning, she purchased some fruits and supplements, then hailed a taxi to the old house.

“How has your blood pressure been recently?”
“I’ve been taking my medication consistently and it’s fairly under control. However, it seems that the recent cold weather might have caused a slight increase. I was planning to consult my doctor about whether there’s a need to adjust the dosage.”
“Have you been keeping track of your blood pressure lately?”
“It’s all noted down. I had Eleanor jot it all down in a notebook.”
“Give me that notebook of yours. I’ll ask the cardiologist about how to adjust your medication. That way, you won’t have to keep making trips to the hospital.”
Susan was increasingly pleased. “Sure, thank you.”

truly wonderful to have a daughter by my side. You’re so gentle and considerate. Who knows where on earth my son is.
Eleanor had already brought over the notebook. “Madam Susan, you can’t really blame Mr. Guerra. After all, Mrs. Thorne is still in the hospital. He has to keep vigil there for Mrs. Guerra; he’s just showing his concern for her.
Susan was a smart individual. She took a quick glance at Lysander’s expression.

Susan gently advised, “I was aware of the incident when you went missing back then. Your mom was once a very capable woman, but losing you left her blaming herself for most of her life, draining her of all vitality. She was careless and failed to take good care of you, but that was never her intention. She’s had a hard time over the years…
“Right, I understand.”
“You’re a perceptive child. You understand many things on your own, so I won’t belabor the point. Eleanor, how’s the meal coming along? Is it ready to be served?”
