Josiah clearly saw it, yet there was no change in his expression. It was as if he hadn’t seen the messages at all. His gaze directly shifted toward the distant window.

As he spoke, he moved across the room and gently closed the window.
Coincidentally, Lysander’s phone rang.
With a light chuckle, Josiah asked her. “Do you need me to step aside?”
Lysander picked up her phone and glanced at it. “That shouldn’t be necessary.”
Josiah gave a slight nod, taking a seat on the couch.
Meanwhile, Lysander simply pressed the speakerphone button.
“Dr. Thorne…”
When Josiah heard the voice, a frown formed on his forehead.
Lysander responded, “Ms. Lysanne, what brings you to call me?”
Lysanne seemed somewhat lacking in confidence. “I heard you stayed up with Mom all night. You must be tired. Thank you.
Lysander didn’t say anything in response.
“Dr. Thome?”
“Speak your mind directly. I don’t have time for your roundabout flattery.”
Lysanne was taken aback for a moment, then forced a chuckle. “All right. I’ll get straight to the point, then.”
“Hurry up.”
“Dad and Mom have already accepted you. Does this mean you’ll be moving back to the Thorne manor in
the future?”
Lysander was growing increasingly agitated. “What exactly are you trying to say?”
“I’m not going to fight with you over the Thorne family, and you shouldn’t fight with me over Josiah. Let’s each take a step back. What do you think?”
“Nothing”
Lysanne was slightly irritated. “Do you really expect to have it all?”
“Firstly, by bloodline, I am the rightful heiress. The Thorne manor is always meant to be mine. What grounds do you have to challenge this?”

“So, what you’re saying is, you could ask Josiah for help in managing the Thorne family’s business.”

“So, it’s okay for you to seek out Josiah, but I can’t?”
Lysanne immediately said, “Didn’t you say you didn’t want to get involved with him anymore?”
This time, it was Lysander who hesitated for a moment.
“That’s true.
Upon seeing her relax, Lysanne quickly continued, “The Thorne family business is managed by Josiah, and I don’t want a penny from the shares‘ profits. It all belongs to you. You can still go to Stounia and continue your medical career, live the life you want. Doesn’t this work out perfectly for both of us?”
Unbeknownst to her, Josiah had already made his way over and was standing behind Lysander. He spoke up. “I’ll help look after the Thorne family’s business. Whether you’re there or not, it makes no difference.”
Lysanne asked in surprise. “Josiah?”
Josiah took the phone from Lysander’s hand and spoke into the receiver. “Don’t call Lysander again. I only promised your parents that I wouldn’t let you harm yourself. I didn’t make any other guarantees.”
Lysanne detected the chill in his words, remaining silent for several seconds.
“Josiah, we grew up together since childhood. Don’t you feel any affection at all?”
“How so?” Josiah sneered, “You knew all along that you weren’t the Lysander from my childhood, yet you hid the truth. You accepted all my kindness toward you and had me on standby for over twenty years. Is that the kind of affection you’re talking about?”
