Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life (Flora and Cedarvale ) Novel Chapter 49

Chapter 49

Connor paused, taken aback.

Gazing into her eyes, he was inexplicably reminded of someone, but the thought seemed absurd.

How could they be be the same person? Sure, many things could be faked, but not height Séraphine was a whole head taller than Flora He had his people take Flors to stay in the room next door.

Connor and Ray also left.

“Can that person really cure Aisha?”

Without Connor’s imposing presence, the Brimer family members weren’t scared anymore.

Melinda asked Looking at the now peacefully sleeping Aisha, she was surprised. It had been a long time since they had seen Aisha sleep so soundly

Paul was deep in thought.

“Mom, Dad! How can you trust the person Ray brought over!” Yvonne sold discontentedly. Her least favorite person was Ray, and by extension, she disliked anyone he brought.

“What if she used some meds that made Aisha end up like this. You, go check what’s really going on.” Yvonne directed the doctors left

in the room.

The doctors hurried to examine Aisha’s condition, filled with curiosity and eager to find out the truth themselves. They also wanted to know why a bit of spice could stabilize Aisha.

The bottle containing the spice was still here. Even just the residual scent seemed to benefit Aisha.

After the examination, one of the doctors scoffed disdainfully, “I thought she had some real skill, but it was just some sedative herbs mixed with the spices. And there was poppy among them, which can indeed make one temporarily forget their pain and calm down, but it’s addictive if used too much.”

The more the doctors spoke, the more disdainful they became. “Any of us could have done that.”

The alterative medicine practitioners frowned, countering. “It’s not right to say that. We’ve examined Ms. Aisha’s condition, and it has indeed improved. Using poppy in alternative medicine is quite common. As long as the dosage is correct, it can be beneficial without harm. I’ve also heard of the tradition of perfumers. Perhaps the person Ray brought over is truly skilled.”

Hearing this, the doctors merely sneered.

There has always been a rift between mainstream medicine and alternative medicine, with mainstream doctors often considering the treatments of alternative medicine to be unscientific and not to be taken seriously. And a perfumer was considered even more fringe. “Ms. Brimer, this spice has given me an idea that might just cure Miss Aisha,”

“Then please, try it.” Yvonne’s eyes sparkled with excitement.

The words of these renowned doctors naturally held more credibility than that weird Séraphine.

Paul looked hesitant. Although he was unsure of Séraphine’s background, the fact that Connor treated them as a distinguished guest meant they were no ordinary person.

He had begun to believe that Séraphine could indeed cure Aisha, but he couldn’t get over his prejudices against anyone associated with Ray.

Ultimately, he couldn’t let go of his pride and decided to let the doctors try their hand

In the room next door, Flora was lying on the bed, checking her phone.

She sent Connor a voice message: [What are you up to? Why aren’t you replying to me.] She knew what Connor was probably doing but asked anyway for the fun of it Opening an app, she checked her phone’s location, her lips curving into a playful smile.

Last time she had just entered the police station, and Connor knew immediately. She had suspected something was up and, sure enough, found out Connor had put a tracker on her.

She knew it was because Connor cared about her that he did this. So, she pretended not to know, treating it as a little quirk of their relationship.

Before she came to the Brimer family this time, she had made a little adjustment. From Connor’s end, it looked like she was still at o tourist spot having fun.

Just after she sent the messege, there was a sudden commotion outside.

Rey burst through the door, urgently pulling Séraphine out. “Séraphine, you must come see Alsha. She’s suddenly vomiting blood: non–stop!”

“What?!” Flore’s heart skipped a beat, quickly putting away her phone and following Ray out.

Upon entering Aisha’s room, they found Aisha in agony, clutching her chest and vomiting blood.

The Brimer family members looked utterly shocked.

Flora quickly stepped forward to examine Aisha.

Yvonne glared and yelled, “You have the nerve to show up. You’re the reason Alsha is like this!”

Then, directing her anger towards Ray, she continued, “It’s all because of the person you brought! You harm Alsha once, and now you want to do it again.”

“Yvonne!” Wonne was getting too far, and Paul’s face darkened as he sternly reprimanded her.

Yvonne, who was most afraid of Paul, immediately welled up with tears and fell silent.

Just then, Connor humed in, and Yvonne quickly tried to greet him but recoiled at his forbidding expression. She liked Connor very much but was also very afraid of him.
