Crossroads Confessions Chapter 103

Chapter 103

“I’m not going to the class reunion…” Stephanie got up quite early today and had breakfast with George. George casually asked her about the high school reunion she had mentioned before.

After the meal, Brad brought them a plate of fruit and smiled kindly, “Mrs. Wellington, the baby is stable and already 16 weeks old. If you want to attend the reunion, just be careful…”

“Have Dominick go with you,” George suggested cheerfully, taking a sip of coffee.

“No need.” Stephanie was flattered and immediately declined.

She smiled a bit awkwardly, “Dominick is very busy. I heard he has an important event tonight.” She wouldn’t dare to take up his time even if he wasn’t busy.

A few days ago, Molly told

her some heartfelt things that were on her mind. In fact, Dominick had been very good to her.

Not just Dominick, but even George, who was reputed to be stern and severe, was very kind to her. Perhaps their kindness was because of her pregnancy, but one should learn to be grateful.

She understood well that George’s concern was more because of Dominick’s attitude.

“The reunion venue will be noisy, and those high school classmates haven’t been in touch for a long time. My best friend recently had some family issues and won’t be attending either…”

“Is it the friend–who works at the company?” George was a bit curious.

Stephanie had previously mentioned this matter to George at home, feeling indignant for Molly.

“Yes, for ordinary people, getting married and buying a house is quite tough, so her family is under a lot of stress lately…”

It had been a week since Molly had been very busy. Stephanie was a bit worried about her.

“Her brother getting married and taking her house is just wrong. That guy is such a wimp. If Dominick ever did this to his sister, I’d definitely teach him a lesson…” George had always had high expectations for the younger generation, especially the boys.

“Dominick has a sister?” Stephanie was surprised.

Brad explained, though his tone was a bit stiff. “Our family adopted Ms. Wellington. She has been with Mrs. Wellington since childhood. They live in Aurorastra and rarely come back.”

Brad’s tone made it clear he didn’t want to discuss this matter further. It seemed that anything concerning Dominick’s mother made them change their demeanor.

Stephanie wisely stopped the topic and went back to her bedroom.

“I wonder what Dominick’s mother is like?” she thought while walking down the corridor.

The relationship between a man’s wife and mother had always been the most complicated. Given that his mother rarely came back to Wellington Villa, she might not need to worry about this relationship and could leave after having the baby.

But…looking at the elegant corridors and precious flowers of Wellington Villa, she felt a bit reluctant

She wondered if it was the beauty of the place she was reluctant to leave or something else…

Chapter 103

Suddenly, her phone rang in her coat pocket, bringing her hack to reality.

“Stephanie, would you consider keeping me?” It was Molly on the phone.

“What’s wrong?”

Stephanie immediately became tense when she heard the crying tone in Molly’s voice.

“Stephanie, my brother is married and has a new house now, so he doesn’t need to worry anymore.”

“Did you really give your apartment to him?” Stephanie’s face turned dark immediately.

“No, he thought my apartment was too small and far away. My mom directly gave him 140 thousand dollars, and he used it as a down payment for an 1184 square foot house…”

“Where did your mom get 140 thousand dollars?” Stephanie was puzzled.

Molly suddenly burst into laughter, a sarcastic tone in her voice. “She doesn’t have the money. She borrowed it from my dad’s relatives…

“It’s Saturday. The company is on holiday. My mom just told me to come home because she made soup for me. But instead of soup, I was met by a bunch of relatives demanding money.”

As she spoke, Molly couldn’t help but start to cry. “How unlucky am I to end up with a mom like this? She made a promise to pay back the relatives today. She tricked me into coming home to pay for her! It is 140 thousand dollars! I’m just a worker. Where am I supposed to get that kind of money? She’s trying to force me to die.

“If she were sick, I’d do everything to borrow money for her treatment. But she did it all to help my good–for–nothing half–brother. My stepfather only gave 40 thousand dollars for his son’s wedding. My mom generously gave 140 thousand dollars, saying they should rely on Wade in the future. She wants me to please his family now and endure now for their future support. What nonsense! Only my mom would be interested in those scumbags…

“Now Wade has a new house, and his whole family is happily preparing for the wedding. And all the debt is on me.”

“is your mom out of her mind?” Stephanie was so angry that she almost swore.

Molly was sobbing. She felt helpless and had no reliable friends around. She usually endured being treated like this, but this time was too much, so she called Stephanie to vent.

“My aunt tried to comfort me, saying I shouldn’t be so angry. She suggested I sell my small apartment to repay the debt. Damn it. They planned for me to sell my house to buy Wade a new one. What kind of thing is that? They’re all insane! They said I’m an ungrateful daughter if I don’t repay my mom’s debt. My mom cried and made a scene at home, saying I’m useless baggage…

“Molly, don’t be too upset. The debt is your mom’s. You shouldn’t… Stephanie wanted to comfort her but didn’t know what to say.

“I’m fine. I’m good.” Molly adjusted her emotions and wiped her tears. “My parents divorced. I’ve lived with my mom under someone else’s roof all my life. I’m used to this kind of life. Eating a bit more or sleeping a bit longer made me feel guilty. Other girls are princesses, but I feel like I’m not even as good as a maid. Stephanie, I know you’re very sad about your mom passing away, but my mom is alive, and she makes me feel even… I don’t even know what to say anymore.”

Stephanie felt her mood gloomy as she listened. She knew Molly had always been strong.

“Molly, how about I help you…

“Stephanie, I just needed to vent. It’s okay. I can handle it,” Molly insisted. “My small apartment isn’t paid off yet, so I can’t sell it. I’ve decided to use a new card and stay in the company dormitory for now. I’ll ignore them if they want to chase me for the debt or make a scene. The

company’s security is not easy to deal with either”

Stephanie was still worried. “If anything happens that you can’t handle, remember to call me.”

After hanging up, Stephanie returned to her bedroom and searched for her bank card. She checked the balance, which only had 20 thousand

dollars.

Over the years, her grandfather’s inheritance had been spent on Diana’s medical bills, so there was really not much left.

Her expression became somber. She couldn’t help Molly.

She knew Molly’s greatest sorrow wasn’t the 140 thousand dollars but her mom’s heartbreaking actions. It was essentially forcing Molly.

Despite Molly’s carefree tone about using a new card and staying in the dorm, her mom’s dramatic tactics would make it hard for her to ignore. The 140 thousand dollars was a real expense and borrowed money had to be repaid.

Stephanie looked at her bank card, feeling helpless..

She was frustrated and angry for Molly. She stayed in her room most of the day, and when she went to prepare dinner, she saw Sandra bringing in a few maids to clean. Suddenly, she heard. “Be careful with that vase. It’s very expensive.”

Stephanie stared at the vase on the cabinet and suddenly had an idea.

“Sandra, has Dominick come home yet?”

“He has a party tonight, so he might be back late… Do you have an urgent matter, Mrs. Wellington? You can call him. Mr. Wellington would be happy to take your call…”
